Anne Meneley will discuss the production and consumption of olive oil. She is a cultural anthropologist whose research interests include religious and worldview, gender, theories of exchange, production, and consumption, ethnographic methods, culture and food, and histories of anthropology.

Hannah will also circulate one of Meneley's papers, "Like an Extra Virgin," an exploration of the commodification of olive oil, as background reading to prepare for Meneley's talk. Reading the paper is encouraged but not required.
