Environmental Performance MeasurementEnvironmental Performance Measurement

The Environmental Performance Measurement Program aims to shift environmental policymaking onto firmer analytic foundations using indicators and statistics. The Environmental Sustainability Index and Environmental Performance Index are both products of this program. The Sustainability Index tracks a set of socio-economic, environmental, and institutional indicators that characterize environmental sustainability at the national scale. The Performance Index measures progress toward a set of targets for desirable environmental outcomes taking into account a country's management policies. The Environmental Performance Measurement (EPM) Project responds to the growing demand for data-driven environmental policymaking at the local, national, and global levels.
